I BE A BRIDGE WINNER – so FINE to BE MYSELF
Tired of other people telling you what you scored and how you might have done better when you play bridge games?
It’s seriously annoying right? Don’t you just want to kick someone when the opponents peer over the scores and ask each other why they got 100%, when you know darn well and really don’t need reminding thanks! That’s been the necessity born out of the “one table, one device” way that bridge has been scored for the past thirty years (or is it 100 years!).
Prolonged periods playing bridge online mean we are quite unaccustomed these days to annoying chatter from the opponents about our performance.
Let’s not forget the crimes some folk will accuse people of when they spend too long with a bridgemate! As my dear friend learned to her misfortune in 2022, if you spend too long with a bridgemate, there’s scope for all manner of bridge criminality.
But if you don’t, or can’t be bothered look at the diabolically out of date and expensive technology in use all around the bridge world, your options for tracking your bridge ups and downs during a session are limited.
Some will certainly argue that it’s not good to dwell on bad scores in an evening. Fine. But by the same token if you don’t know when you’ve done well either, how can you ride the high of performance success – those who hog the bridgemate certainly think it puts them at an advantage. Riding a high is a well known performance measure that takes winners to the top.
Practically – use IBEScore and opponent habits like hogging the seat with the scoring device, or parking themselves by the results screen, become a thing of the past. With IBEScore there really is no need at all for conversation about a just played board. So players will have more time for the aspect that is cited as being the NUMBER ONE reason we meet to play face-to-face – YES with IBEScore players can talk about things other than bridge scores AND YES actually socialise between deals.
The established practice for organised bridge has managed the problem of a lack of good bridge organisation technology by treating the symptom not the cause. Requiring competitors to universally conform to an unnatural Best Behaviour at Bridge mantra. Which while being “nice” in principle, in reality compounds the problem of poor equipment and promotes bullying of others. With IBEScore there is no need to discuss performance at all. Players can look at their own device and see exactly what they want to, when it suits them.
So no more gloating. And plenty more self-satisfaction or genuine statistically based reflection on performance. Players can finally truly start to build an accurate picture of their performance ups and downs as they play.
In order to really understand the quirks of different actions and one’s performance on a board, the IBEScore team will go a step further, giving players tools to set their own bridge goals and develop their own good habits. To learn how to assess the data – in short IBEScore will provide the tools as an offshoot of the App for every bridge player to becoming his or her own bridge coach.
To use the scoring part of the IBEScore App, you’ll need a GAME CODE.
The game organiser (or someone who will act as Scorer for the session) uses the GAME CODE and a DIrector password to access the game creation features of this cloud based scoring system.
Players in a session simply type in the organiser’s GAME CODE.
To become an IBEScore organiser and start creating games, simply apply for a FREE game code.
