Movements are an unwieldy list!
Quote from JohnJ on 21/10/2023, 9:47 amI'm putting together a list of standard movements for directors to use based on the number of tables for our Directors. The movement names are quite unwieldy at times (e.g. Full Howell Baron Barclay SPECIAL 14/1 4/6 9/10 7/3 12/2 13/11 5/8).Are there any plans to change these? I ask before I print and laminate stuff that I then have to throw away. You make reference to the ability for a club to set its favourite movements, although I don't think that's ready yet.
Quote from ibescore on 21/10/2023, 10:01 amThe current naming structure is based on the English Manning movement guide and/or match the bridge scoring programmes used in England since the dawn of time. This is a legacy from UK brother BriAn.
The movement section needs an overhaul (on out TO DO the list). For two main reasons - firstly that in other countries sessions of 24 boards do not seem to be the norm. Furthermore, inexperienced directors have a bad habit of customising scorer movement to paper movement cards rather than relying on the scorer and the players for next move instructions.
So until we adequately cater to these two user actions effectively with a new Movement Structure, IBEScore does this: When you first create a game using your preferred movement, it SHOULD thereafter appear in green at the top of the (Tap for list dropdown) next time you start to create a game for that many tables. We suggest you do this for each of your club game codes as part of your setup implementation plan.
Re, laminating - this really should not be necessary once your directors feel confident to look for the "green" movements, but worry not we will give fair warning when lists are renamed so you will have time to warn up the laminator 🙂
