This is a support tool only for the IBEScore smart phone scoring system. No scoring actions can be done in the Companion App.

On this page you will find explanation for each of the menu items – a description of the interaction with the app and how changes will affect IBEScore on a player’s or the director’s device.

Some settings change as soon as a device is refreshed. Others will only take effect when a new game is created. All elements are designed to give the GAME CODE manager flexibility to manage event to suit the client’s requirements.

IBEScore Technical Manual

In this section, you can customise how future game are created. And personalise the IBEScore scoring App behaviours to your game code.

There are 2 options in this sections. Settings from previous means that whatever you assigned in the previous game, will hold for the next game created. These base settings will assign the settings changed here and saved to all future events.

If you make a mistake, you can change the settings in the app, or switch here and create a new game.

A typical scenario might be that you set the base settings to be the default with player naming to begin with ‘Tap to Select’ , but you need to restart a game after the player have already entered their names You might use the Settings from Previous Events to hold the names when you create the new game – it should overwrite the movement, but NOT the names already entered.

If Two-Page Startup is ticked players will see a reception screen after clicking Enter the Duplicate followed by a Start Table name entry screen(unless TD enters all name ifs ticked). Players enter the Duplicate by selecting their table number to arrive at the name slip reception screen. At this point they should click on their compass seat and tap here to enter their names. This will assign them to their pair number for that game. When unticked players need to know their pair number in order to orient themselves to the correct table (use Get Starting Lineup to advise players of their pair numbers).

TD enters names removes the option for players to enter their name, and the Start table will be blank in the names section until the TD enters the names (this can be changed in the App as well and settings will take effect in the current game)

Require all names means that the Enter Duplicate button will remain greyed out until all four names have been entered, then turn green to proceed to the first round.

Team sign-in defaults player to enter their names at their team table

Player Identification Methods where enabled allows an affiliated group to allow players to sign-in using their affiliation number, a local club number, or only by name. NB Some national affiliation numbers are setup to search and return player names, but this is not automated for all countries yet. Please note that the system does not like numbers, so if you cannot get a name from a number (please speak to us about how to add names with numbers (eg local club numbers must be in the Player DB for search to work).

You can add or remove identification methods. And you can set one as default. If you allow more than one naming option, the player will see names if they type a letter (and it is the default), or a list to select affiliation or club as you have allowed. they will need to click as appropriate. So if you do not need

Security can be set here to Lock or Release the Lock. The has the effect of allowing players to enter the first round or not. This can be altered in the app, here it is mostly used to assign as a base setting default for future games. ie not in the current game.

PIN Code allows for a range of options to increase the security level for new games. Please be careful if setting a PIN to make a note of the PIN code as it remains active for that game and cannot be removed once set.

Spectating This allows the base setting for future games to be set so that viewers not playing in a game can see what players can see from anywhere by logging into the game code in the app (they can do this as Pair 0 after round 1) or on the website if that option is ticked. To change the Spectators view. NB Once a game has started use the App to change the view

This section shows the range of settings available in the app. Each can be ticked or untick to set the preferred base settings for future games in that game code. During a game in progress use the App NOT this Companion to make changes .

Be careful with these settings. Typically the settings will try to help with refining options to make the scorer’s life easier. But some may causes conflicts in the logic and hang the App. If this happens please contact your support person if reverting the settings does not unhang your game code.

This section is fairly intuitive. Again the settings will take effect in the next game and you must save the New Event Settings to These Base Settings to bring changes into effect for future games.

Undertake operations that relate to the current game only.

In this section, you can:

  • Add/edit an Event Name,
  • Add/edit Player names
  • Create a public web page link of starting line-up
  • You can also forward date an event

Remember to save any changes

At the end of an session, remember to Finalise Game . This is the same action as Finalise in the App (but you will need to use this companion route during a Swiss Teams or Pairs event (eg to then publish interim results) because the finalise button will not display in app (as it is hidden by the next round draw option).

Lock game locks the current game in progress

Import USEBIO this allows an elsewhere played game not already scored in the database to be uploaded to the Game Code. This is useful for example when running hybrid events. (Setting one GAME Code as the Sims host, and joining another to it will merge the results for simultaneous display via the App).

Purge Game will delete all content in the current game (it might or might not work well! Try it first but do not rely on it at all – especially if you hang you GAME CODE, purge event is unlikely to fix it).

Re-date current game changes the date on the event in progress – useful if you set the game up on an earlier date and now want the result display to show today’s date.

Set Simultaneous is perhaps the least known and greatest feature of IBEScore functionality. Related sessions played at different venues can be scored using different game codes and movements (with same boards) and joined via this little pink button. Try it and please contact support for help.

Change your IBEScore Director Key, or update the email address associated to a game code here.

Changing Game Code (or adding another to your subscription)

Please note changes made Email or Director Key will not affect your subscription agreement or the primary contact name for the GAME CODE holder.

It is also possible for subscribers to add further GAME CODEs and match to this game code player database. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

This is a simple tool to add a pre-existing deal file to the IBEScore App from a pc, or to download it.

Hand records can then be added, or hidden in the IBEScorer App. They can be viewed in the app only.

Please use the listed formats only. After you drag the file to its drawer on the page, click upload to send it to the IBEScore App for the current game. Click refresh in the app (and remember to change the Players can See view if base set to hidden) to view the hand records matched to a board number.

These files are auto-generated when an IBEScored game is finalised. Remember to finalise a game before trying to downloading a file (to ensure you have the details from the current game!)

File formats available are .pdf, .csv and .xml – these should be compatible with known bridge result reporting systems such as Bridgewebs, Pianola, BridgeExtra.

We are working on adding other formats to serve the wider bridge communities – please do ask us for help regarding masterpoint submissions to your affiliations and other web results services.

Whenever a game is finalised, it sets the game information into storage to be reassembled again should it be required.

To restore a game from the historic database, doubleclick the chosen game. This returns all the data to the IBEScorer GAME CODE. To access it – open IBEScore and refresh – that old game data should display now and you can carry-on as if this game has just finished – very useful if you forgot to add masterpoints, publish results or want to publish eh with and without handicapping.

CAUTION: Restoring a game from history will 100% OVERWRITE EVERYTHING that is in the current game, SO BE CERTAIN that there is no game in progress (that has not been finalised yet) when you double-click to reincreate the Historic Game.
